South Carolina's Most Iconic Deli!
Groucho's Deli has been serving sandwiches since 1941, when it first opened near the University of South Carolina. In the decades since, it has grown into one of the Southeast's most recognized deli chains, now operating more than 30 locations across the Carolinas and Georgia.
That recognition was reinforced this week, when Business Insider named Groucho's South Carolina's most iconic deli, a distinction that reflects decades of consistency and a devoted following. Much of that reputation is built on Formula 45, the deli's tangy signature sauce, a defining feature of the Groucho's experience and a key reason guests return again and again. The menu itself reflects a strong sense of place, with many sandwiches named for the people who helped make Groucho's what it is today.
For first-time visitors, the STP Dipper is the place to start. Served with Formula 45, it remains the most popular item on the menu and a fitting introduction to what has made Groucho's a Southeastern staple for 85 years.
